Chile's SCJ defends online betting site blocks against Latamwin and Epicbet legal challenges

By The Weekly Edge desk ·

Summary

Chile's gaming regulator, the SCJ, has told the courts that online betting is prohibited unless a body is expressly authorised by law, and it defended the DNS blocks of unlicensed sites. Latamwin (W&C N.V.) filed a protection appeal against the SCJ and Subtel citing economic rights, while Epicbet (Overcooked Limitada) challenged four Subtel circulars issued between 31 August and 28 September 2026 and has gone to the Supreme Court after losing at first instance. Subtel says it merely executes court orders and cannot judge the legality of content.

Why it matters

The SCJ’s defense of DNS blocks and legal challenges will shape enforcement against unlicensed betting sites in Chile.
